Regional development.

The responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Resource Management Act (RMA) 1991, falls with regional councils, who are responsible for deciding what locations and species are appropriate for aquaculture in their regions.

Aquaculture New Zealand works to promote the benefits of aquaculture in regional growth and offer support for aquaculture planning and management in line with regional coastal plans and the Resource Management Act (RMA) 1991.
